7:37PM: JP Parise released a statement to Tom Gulitti saying:
“I have to say I was extremely disappointed in how my comments were portrayed in today’s newspaper article,” J.P. Parise said. “I would never speak for Zach under any circumstance. He has not talked to me about anything other than the playoffs and we have not discussed anything but the playoffs and that is 100 percent where his focus is right now and I have absolutely no intentions to distract and get things away from his focus right now.”
9:39AM: At Newsday, Arthur Staple spoke with JP Parise, father of Zach Parise, who said that while his son hasn’t decided on anything regarding his future yet, he does like a certain coach of the Rangers.
“Zach likes Torts a lot. Zach knows how to work, he doesn’t shy away from the discipline part of it. He’d fit right in there.”
Tortorella was an assistant coach on the 2010 USA Olympic team that Parise, along with Ryan Callahan and Chris Drury, were part of.
JP added that Zach loves being on the Devils and loves Pete DeBoer and Lou Lamoriello.
When asked earlier this month, 73% of voters said that they would like to see Parise on the Rangers.
It has been mentioned before that John Tortorella could be a big factor in the Rangers possibly acquiring Parise.
At ESPN Insider, Craig Custance writes about how the playoffs are helping to shape the market for impending free agents Ryan Suter and Zach Parise.
Custance writes that the Red Wings are expected to make an aggressive push for Parise as will the Minnesota Wild, where Parise would return to his home state.
He adds that the Rangers are expected to make a push and cites the relationship that Parise and John Tortorella have from the 2012 Olympics as something that could possibly give the Rangers an advantage.
Parise has eight points in the playoffs along with 30 hits and an average ice time of over 21 minutes.
He has a cap hit of $6 million this season.

Garrison has 13 goals and 11 assists for the Panthers this season. Eight of his goals have come on the power play this season.
He has a cap hit of $675,000.
Katie Strang tweets, “Oduya could be a name to watch for Rangers. Could be on the move, but asking prices right now a little out of whack across the board”
Oduya is a UFA at the end of the season with a cap hit of $3.5 million. He has two goals and eleven assists

In the NY Post, Larry Brooks writes that the Rangers have some interest in former Ranger Mike Knuble who is on the outs with Dale Hunter and the Washington Capitals.
Knuble is a UFA at the end of the season.
Brooks wonders who would come out of the lineup for Knuble and what the cost for him may be.

10:56AM: Kevin Allen of USA Today says that Gaustad is NOT going to the Red Wings
7:04AM:In the NY Post, Larry Brooks writes that the Rangers like the add of renting center Paul Gaustad of the Buffalo Sabres.
The Sabres are reportedly looking for a first round pick for Gaustad.

In the NY Post, Larry Brooks writes that the Rangers are looking to add a defensemen but only one that is a good skater.
Brooks writes that the team may have some interest in adding Dennis Wideman or Jaroslav Spacek, but that there is no interest in Chris Campoli or Bryan Allen.
Helene Elliott of the LA Times tweets that the Rangers have a scouting presence in Los Angeles tonight for the Blackhawks and Kings game.
The Rangers were linked to Dustin Brown on Thursday night and Friday.
