All season long, the Rangers and John Tortorella have talked about how the team has “found a way to win.”
In the New York Post, Mike Vaccaro writes about how the Rangers found a way to win last night and were able to do it in dramatic fashion.
On what he was thinking at the end, Henrik Lundqvist said on MSG,”I was already thinking of the next game. It was such a big relief and excitement. I think we deserve it. The guys worked hard all game and we tried to create chances. It was great to see us fight until the end.”
Brad Richards followed up by saying, “We all know what can happen coming down the stretch. The odds aren’t always great and that is why you play the 60 minutes.”
Arthur Staple has more on this at Newsday and Johnette Howard at ESPN NY.
Filip Bondy writes in the Daily News that the Rangers seem like a team of destiny.
Adam: That is Rangers hockey. They don’t quit, they don’t stop and they do everything in their power to win games. Hell, that tying goal came with an eternity left compared to how they have won other games in the last few seconds this season.
Update: 3:22PM: On 1050 ESPN Radio, Henrik Lundqvist said that McDonagh has been working on that toe-drag for a while.
Update: 3:23PM: On 1050 ESPN Radio, McDonagh told Kenny and Dave:
“It was a flukey injury I have had over the course of my career. My knee cap just gets tweaked and it’s nothing long term or serious. Everything is okay.”
McDonagh returned to the game.
