Brian Boyle scored the only goal last night in the Rangers 1-0 win over the Senators and now has goals in all three games.
Following the game on MSG, Dan Girardi said of Boyle:
He is just playing like a man out there. He is a big guy, getting in on the forecheck, scoring some goals, he is blocking shots and doing everything right for us.
Paul MacLean said that the Senators need to pay more attention to Boyle.
Earlier in the week, Boyle said of his own game, “I have tried to simplify a lot of things and just focus on little responsibility that I have. I just tried to find a way to have fun out there and be a contributor. The confidence has come a little bit, but it comes and goes and you need to keep your foot on the gas.”
Boyle added last night, in a tweet from Andrew Gross, that he didn’t expect the reaction he got from the Ottawa fans, “honestly, it was a surprise. But if I’m the villain to them, that’s good.”
On how Boyle played on Saturday night, John Tortorella said, “he should look at last night’s game and it’s a big game for him as far as growing as a person and a player. He stood in there, scores a big goal. It’s a teaching game for him with what he is becoming as a player. He has developed that mental toughness and is becoming a really good player for us.”
Joe Micheletti said on MSG last night that Boyle is a really “impressive kid” and praised him for all the work he put in while he was struggling and going through his scoreless streaks.
Ron Duguay said on MSG last night, “He was a warrior out there.”
Henrik Lundqvist added, “He is doing all the things he has been doing all year but now he is scoring some big goals for us. I am not surprised, he is a really skilled player and he has been red hot in practice lately. We need guys to step up and he is doing an unbelievable job for us right now.”
Brian Boyle, 3 goals vs OTT. Only other Rangers player to score goals in each of NYR‘s first 3 games of playoff year? Sean Avery, 08 #elias

We have the same reaction to a Ranger scoring a goal.
