The NY Post is reporting that the Rangers have been awarded a compensatory pick after the untimely death of prospect Alexei Cherepanov.
The Rangers have been awarded the 17th pick in the 2nd round.
Cherepanov, the 17th overall pick in 2007, died of a heart attack on the bench earlier this season in Omsk.
