After the Rangers beat the Flyers this past Sunday, Dave Maloney talked about the impact that Marian Gaborik has had on this team with his return to being one of the best goal scorers in the league:
“You aren’t where you are without the play of your best players playing really well. We have talked about Lundqvist and Gaborik from the get-go. Gaborik was convinced he was going to come back and be a really good hockey player. He goes and he competes hard on the puck.
Before the game against New Jersey, Joe Micheletti said that John Tortorella has been showing clips of Gaborik’s defensive play during video sessions.
Dave talked about how last season Gaborik was never around the puck and when he was around the puck, he seemed tentative with it.
Gaborik ranks 6 in the league in goals this season and 16th in the league in shots.
He has 26 goals and 17 assists this season and is projected by NHL.com to score 41 goals and 26 assists..
