“If I was running I wouldn’t say a word but I tried to stop, put my stick for Cally’s pass and he pushes me into Brodeur”

Marian Gaborik on the MSG Post Game Show

Dave Maloney says on MSG that the league decided that any contact with the goalie was going to be called goaltender interference.

He adds that Volchenkov was backing away from Gaborik as Gabby connected with Brodeur.

Maloney closed by saying, “I don’t agree with it, but it’s a call that is consistent with how it has been called all year”

When asked if the goalie always gets the benefit of the doubt when there is contact, Henrik Lundqvist said, “If the goalie sells it that good they are going to call a penalty.”

Joe says on MSG “If you are going by the letter of the rule book, it should be a goal. If the attacking player tries to avoid contact but is then pushed into the goalie, it should be a goal”

John Tortorella says on MSG that he is not commenting on the goal being waived off.
