Read: Second Mock Draft Of The Season
At NHL.com, Mike Morreale, Steve Hoffner and Adam Kimelman project how they think the first round of the 2012 NHL entry will play out.
In their first mock draft, from early November, the Rangers were picking sixth. The Rangers pick 29th in this mock draft.
Morreale has the Rangers taking RW from Guelph, Scott Kosmachuk.
Neither Kimelman or Hoffner has Kosmachuk as a first round pick. In their draft preview issue from October, Future Considerations ranked him 58th.
Kimelman has the Rangers taking Russian goalie Andrei Vasilevski. Neither Hoffner or Morreale have Vasilevski as a first round pick.
Hoffner has the Rangers taking Czech center Tomas Hertl. Kimelman has him ranked 29th and Morreale doesn’t have him in the first round.
He looks to be a mid-first round pick, which could eliminate him from being a Ranger pick, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see them go after Stefan Matteau. Bloodlines, and history aside, reports are that he is the exact kind of physical, two-way player that the Rangers covet.
