BUZZ: Is Ryan Smyth Interested In Joining The Rangers?
In the NY Post, Larry Brooks writes that Ryan Smyth reportedly has interest in waiving his no-move clause to join the Rangers.
Rangers GM Glen Sather drafted Ryan Smyth in 1994.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound winger is a documented net presence who certainly would be a sight for sore eyes on the dysfunctional Rangers power play
Smyth is a free agent at the end of the season.
In a poll asked yesterday, Smyth was in third place among players that readers wanted the Rangers to acquire.
I wondered about this on Wednesday and was actually surprised at how against Smyth most people were. His net presence would be a welcome addition and would provide a veteran left wing for Brad Richards to play with. Depending on cost, I think that Smyth could be the best option that the Rangers could get.
I do think that Vinny Prospal is still the most likely option to be acquired though.
In his last 29 games, Ryan Smyth has 4 goals and 6 assists.
