Buzz: John Tortorella Is Considering Sending Erik Christensen and Wojtek Wolski Down For Conditioning

by Adam Rotter on January 10th, 2012 at 5:00 pm

Update: 5:16PM: John Tortorella said during his pre game press conference about Wolski and and Christensen:

we monitor and watch our players. I’m not saying that we have to get him in, cause I like some of the things going on with our team. That is the situation. He hasn’t played a whole bunch and we will see how other guys go along here. He will probably be the next guy to get an opportunity.

When your minor league team is just down the street, it’s a really good thing for players. We are in the process of trying to figure all that out. Erik and him have not played, and we are going to get bumped, we are going to get some injuries so I think it would be good if players just went down there to play and get some game time.

Tortorella said that there has been consideration about sending him to Hartford but that he has not yet asked them about it.

Original Post: Pat Leonard, Katie Strang and Larry Brooks tweet that the Rangers are considering asking Wojtek Wolski and Erik Christensen if they would accept two week conditioning stints down in Hartford so that they can get into some game action.

The players need to agree to the conditioning assignment

Wolski has not played since November 3rd after undergoing surgery for a sports hernia.

Christensen has not played since December 17th.

Conditioning assignments are generally two weeks long so after two weeks they would be back up with the Rangers in the same position they are in now. I think it makes sense and is a good idea. If anything it could help the Whale for a few games and since both have their contracts up at the end of the season, they need every chance they can get to impress in some way, shape or form.
