Buzz: A Paul Mara Tom Renney Reunion?
At ESPN.com, Scott Burnside wonders if free agent defenseman Paul Mara could find himself playing under former Rangers coach Tom Renney in Edmonton.
Mara is recovering from shoulder surgery and spent last season with the Montreal Canadiens.
…Everyone who ever played under Tom Renney gets linked back to him. Couple that with the fact that nearly everyone gets rumored to Edmonton and there is this. Mara though would be a good fit in Edmonton as he always seemed like an unsung leader for the Rangers, and could be a good mentor, along with Jason Strudwick for the kids that Edmonton is looking to build with.
On the ice he may not do much for Renney and the Oilers, but he could have a nice veteran influence on the backline, especially if they can actually move Sheldon Souray.
