News: Slava Kozlov Is Job Hunting
According to Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Slava Kozlov still wants to play in the NHL this year.
Kozlov, 38, has 853 points in 1182 career games with the Red Wings, Sabres and Thrashers.
…That’s interesting. With Pavol Demitra gone to Russia, maybe Kozlov is the veteran playmaker Glen Sather’s looking for. He would probably come cheap, as he’s 38 and coming off an injury-shortened, ineffective year, but the year before that he scored 76 points. If you look at his career numbers, it’s always good year, bad year; maybe he has one more good year left if he plays alongside Marian Gaborik.
Of course, I’d still prefer — as would we all — that the Rangers get a Marc Savard or Brad Richards, but that doesn’t seem too likely, so Kozlov is a reasonable low-risk option if the Rangers don’t think Mats Zuccarello Aasen is ready for first-line duty.
