Buzz: Ryan Callahn ISN’T GOING ANYWHERE

Ryan Callahan Of The New York RangersLarry Brooks just tweeted that Ryan Callahan isn’t being traded by the Rangers.

This is only relevant because Cassie Campbell of Sportsnet in Canada tweeted that she was hearing Ryan Callahan could be getting sent to Calgary.

…I have to be honest, I was freaked out. Callahan is a huge part of the Rangers, John Tortorella loves him, but his name is always thrown around.  There have been some rumors the last two days, true or not, linking the Rangers to a couple of Canadian teams and this isn’t some rinky dink person tweeting it, its someone who works for Hockey Night In Canada. This probably goes back to the Olli Jokinen trade where Callahan saw his name get thrown around a couple of times. I am sure that Calgary wants Ryan Callahan, as do 28 other teams, but lucky for us, rumors are just rumors

In the end, the Rangers would probably never move Callahan as I think they view him as the future captain.

But still, when most people are tweeting and emailing me only looking for the other shoe to drop and the bad thing to happen, I couldn’t help but think this would be part of it.

    you dont trade a guy that gives us 60 minutes of work every nite every game this guy is the only one i dont trade.

    I am sorry I like Cally, but he is what NFL scouts call a tweener. He is basically a 3rd line guy with some offensive ability who will never be a 1st line player in NHL. If you can get a top D man for him I pull trigger in a second. Regehr is that guy and this is all moot bc Calgary wouldnt do this trade anyway.
