Pierre LeBrun of ESPN and Tarik El Bashir of the Washington Post report that Washington Captials center Nicklas Backstrom is set to sign a contract extension tomorrow.
A press conference is scheduled for 10:30 AM to announce it.
Bashir reports that Backstrom’s salary is expected to be in the range of $6 million.
Last season Backstrom, 22, had 33 goals and 68 assists.
…Well there goes that. Backstrom was slated to be an RFA and would certainly be worth the risk of losing five first rounders over. It looks like he will be Alex Ovechkin‘s center for a long long time
