Recap: Flyers Win, Penguins Lose

by Adam Rotter on April 15th, 2010 at 6:36 am

Last night, the New Jersey Devils fell to the rival Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 at the Prudential Center in Newark.

The Flyers got two second period goals from Chris Pronger and Mike Richards. The Devils Travis Zajac scored late in the third to cut the score in half.

Brian Boucher stopped 23 of 24 shots for the win.

…The Flyers played better than the Devils and the Devils couldn’t convert on their chances. Ilya Kovalchuk had chances but was either stopped or missed the net. They will have to get more pressure on Boucher and convert on their chances.

In Pittsburgh, the Ottawa Senators fended off the defending Stanley Cup champions 5-4 in a score that reflected their respective seedings.

Peter Regin, Chris Neil, Chris Kelley, Erik Karlsson and Jarkko Ruutu scored for Ottawa. For Pittsburgh, Evgeni Malkin had two, Craig Adams and Alex Goligoski scored. Sidney Crosby had three assists.

…Surprised that Ottawa took this game. Seemed like some shaky play by Marc-Andre Fleury but I don’t think they are in too much trouble.

Montreal and Washington and Boston and Buffalo play tonight.
