by Adam Rotter on April 13th, 2010 at 4:56 pm

Update:6:55:AM: Michael Obernauer in the NY Daily News reports that Tortorella will be back next season

John Tortorella meets the Rangers writers for the final time this season at 1PM.

This poll will be asked more than once in the off-season, but with the Rangers just missing the playoffs fresh in our minds:

Do You Think John Tortorella Is The Right Man To Lead The Rangers?

…I do, but I know that many don’t and understand why. My dad doesn’t like him, he thinks he is an angry coach who bullies players through the media and it isn’t right.

If you have your reasons for or against Tortorella, leave them in the comments, email them to me at adamrotter@gmail.com or reply to me on twitter.

Andrew Gross has some thoughts on Tortorella at Ranger Rants.

I really didn’t see that system that Torts was brought in to make our team play. We looked exactly the same, and teams took advantage of that. Renney got us probably as far as he could and Torts was supposed to be that step up we needed, and instead were out of the playoff and wondering about next year already.

Larry Brooks hit a problem on the head (although he wants Torts fired)… I think you can’t fault Tortorella for constantly switching lines and only running 2 lines when you have absolutely zero depth and have to keep throwing crap at a wall and seeing what sticks.

With a new GM, you can start building talent and stop going after guys like Jokinen who are really just a step backwards. Let the young guys and minor leaguers develop while adding smart additions like character guys and role players with maybe one more great center to compliment Gaborik after ridding the Rangers of Redden and Roszival (trade, AHL, whatever)
