Quote: Drury Calls Rangers Immature
Ever since the Olympic games, it seems as if Chris Drury lets his frustration be seen, or heard more. He was the target of criticism because as a captain, it just looked as if he wasn’t the type to go into the locker room and be demanding. While Mark Messier’s only come once in a blue moon, Drury has done much more lately to make his presence felt.
According to Michael Obernauer of the NY Daily News, Chris Drury was “seething” in the locker room after the loss. When asked about the team’s inconsistency, Drury responded with:
“It’s immaturity. That’s what it’s been all year.”
Again Drury, followed by Prospal, discussed the Rangers lack of maturity and preparedness in the NY Post:
“Immaturity,” he said. “We’d better grow up fast or we’re going to be watching [the playoffs].”
“This was not even close to the effort we needed,” Prospal told The Post. “We were not ready for the game.
…I’m glad to see Drury make a statement like that. The team needs to have some heads turned after a performance – with the ployoffs around the corner – like that. Drury has been pretty good since the break; he’s not going to be a big scorer but he continues to do the little things right and he continues to earn his ice-time as a result. The Rangers are immature at times and it just doesn’t seem they ever show that killer instinct needed to close out hockey games, or in this case pull closer to a playoff position. And to be unprepared for a game like this, I’m just not sure how you can come out with less than 100% energy level.
