The New York Post caught up with Rangers Radio man Kenny Albert and asked him five questions about the Rangers at this point in the season:
Q: What do the Rangers have to do to push that run to five years in a row?
A: It may be obvious, but Henrik Lundqvist and Marian Gaborik have to continue playing at high levels. A lot will be determined with four of their next five games coming against teams they are competing with for the final playoff spots. This next week or so is going to be big. If any one of those teams can go on a five-, six-game streak they can lock it up.
…Kenny is a pretty good guy. I met him at a rest stop after the Rangers defeated Washington in Game 2 last season and had a nice little chat with him about the team. It was cool, but anytime you meet anyone at a rest stop, no matter who it is, its sort of bizarre.
After the jump, Albert answers a question about the future of John Tortorella and Glen Sather:
Q: Do you think there will be changes with coach John Tortorella and Sather if the Rangers don’t make the playoffs?
A: I think the management is in it for the long haul as far as Sather goes. And this is Tortorella’s first full year with the Rangers. And last year he inherited a team that was out of the playoffs and got them into the postseason. And they also pushed the Capitals to seven games and Washington was a team capable of winning the Stanley Cup.
