Read: Leaving Points Out There

by Adam Rotter on March 10th, 2010 at 8:00 am

In Newsday today Steve Zipay writes about the points that the Rangers have been leaving on the table in overtime and the shootout.

The Rangers are 1-6 in the 4 on 4 overtime period and 2 and 3 in the shootout.

…P.A. Parenteau has the winner in both of the Rangers shootouts this season. He is of course in Hartford and not with the Rangers.

Of the twelve points that the Rangers have left out their, only three have been picked up and that is pretty unacceptable. The shootouts used to be the Rangers big things. With Henrik Lundqvist in net it always seemed like they were just trying to play through overtime and get to the shootout where Lundqvist would be on top of his game.

At this point in the season, getting a point is good, but two are needed whenever they can be gotten.

The Rangers last shootout was the epic 1-0 loss to the Devils where neither Lundqvist or Marty Brodeur let in a goal until the shootout.
