Atlantic Division Recap: Flyers Beat the Islanders

Courtesy of two third period power-play goals, the Philadelphia Flyers were able to overcome a 2-1 deficit to topple the New York Islanders, 3-2. Claude Giroux (14) scored the first goal in the third and Simon Gagne (12) followed-up with the eventual game-winner six minutes later. Jeff Carter (31) tallied the other goal for the Flyers in the second period. John Tavares (18) and Kyle Okposo (14) scored the game’s first two goals, but the Islanders were unable to hold the lead, as Dwayne Roloson allowed two goals on 10 shots in the third period, despite 32 saves in the contest. Michael Leighton earned his second straight victory for the Flyers with 23 saves.
