Buzz: Teams Interested In Zuccarello

According to a Norwegian Newspaper, via ESPN, NHL teams are showing interest in Norway’s Mats Zuccarello-Aasen.

Zuccarello had a goal and two assists in the four games Norway played. He is 22 but listed at 5’7 and 161 pounds.

…That is small. Brian Gionta is 5’7 and 175lbs so there is a precedent for a player of his size to make it in the NHL. Theo Fleury was 5’6 180.

Playing for MODO of the Swedish League, with Peter Forsberg and Markus Naslund, he had 18 goals and 33 assists to lead the team.

The report lists Chicago as one of the teams interested.

…A scorer is something that the Rangers need, and he would be considerably cheaper then some of the other players out there, but he may not be ideal for them. Someone like Brian Gionta is someone who needs to be considered though. He does have a terrific name though

    Theo Fleury was 180 when he was his heaviest and in his book “Playing with Fire” he said that was the worst he ever played. He usually plays around 155-165lbs.
