Read: Cally And Drury’s Importance To Team USA

Team USA won its first Olympic game yesterday 3-1 over Switzerland. The Rangers Ryan Callahan and Chris Drury alternated amongst a few others on the teams fourth line with David Backes and Bobby Ryann.

Even on the fourth line, and both playing around ten minutes, Arthur Staple of Newsday says that they will both be very important to Team USA.

…Cally made his presence felt in the first period when he hit former Flyers prospect Luca Sbisa in a big way. Drury had his chances and made the most of his ice-time. The two of them had a nice chance on the penalty kill as the two continued to play together as they do for the Rangers.

Speaking of Team USA, they need a bit of a better effort tomorrow against Norway. People were saying on twitter and such that the teams best line was the medley of the four players listed above, and if that continues into higher play, team USA won’t go very far. They don’t have the horses to run with Canada or Russia but could make some noise. The team didn’t have much time to practice or play together before the game, which could explain some of their play, but hopefully their game yesterday gave them some direction on how to play the tournament.
