Atlantic Division Recap: Flyers Top Devils
The New Jersey Devils have now lost six of their last eight games, the most recent one to the Philadelphia Flyers, 3-2. What makes this loss tough to swallow is the 2-0 lead [Zach Parise (26), Anssi Salmela (2)] they had, until the last minute and a half of the second period. Then, Flyers rookie James van Riemsdyk scored his thirteenth, followed by one from Jeff Carter (23). Chris Pronger had assists (32) on both goals. Mike Richards scored the game winner (23) with about eight minutes left in the third.
Scary sight, which can be seen and read about here: Just as Salmela scored, he took a Jeff Carter shoulder to the head, was taken off on a stretcher unconscious and was said not to have remembered much of his goal. He suffered a broken nose, lost some teeth, and most likely has a concussion.
