Quote: Believing In The System
Since John Tortorella yelled and cursed and undressed the team following their disastrous loss to the Islanders last Wednesday, the Rangers have won four games in a row. Players have started to be more accountable for themselves and play more of the way that John Tortorella has wanted them to play all season:
“We are more confident now, we believe in our system right now,” said Henrik Lundqvist, I think the last four games we have been more physical, more aggressive. The puck is starting to bounce our way a little bit.”
Yesterday Larry Brooks wrote about the Rangers reverting more to a defensive system, rather than the all out offensive system Torts came in here talking about.
…The team has been more physical, especially Matt Gilroy and Wade Redden. Those two were sent down and scratched respectivly because they needed to add more of a physical aspect to their game. Last night Gilroy had four hits and Redden had three.
With that style, comes the added forechecking and aggressiveness that has led to the Rangers making and scoring better plays. Look at Chris Drury‘s goal last night, set up by aggressive hard work from Enver Lisin. If they continue to play this way, the season could continue to turn around for the Rangers.
