Henrik Lundqvist returned to his outstanding form last night stopping 36 of 37 chances and keeping the Sabres off the scoresheet until the final minute of the game.
This season Lundqvist is 12-10-1 with a 2.66 GAA and a .913 save percentage. Lundqvist rates his play as of late as OK:
“I think I’ve been playing OK,” said Lundqvist, who had allowed four goals in three of his last four outings.
“But OK is not enough in this league.”
…OK seems about right for how its been. Last night though was the Lundqvist we know and love. The one that says that two goals is enough to win. I am glad that Lundqvist was back.
He attributed his strong play last night to being more focused:
“Technically I’ve been feeling good the last couple weeks, but the focus part felt really good tonight,” Lundqvist said. “It’s important that you don’t think too much when you play, and not analyze the game as you play. It’s just focusing on the next shot.”

…Focus is everything with Lundqvist. That is why there was that whole big dustup with the Islanders ice-girls a few seasons ago when he didn’t want to ruin his focus. Whatever it was, he needs to keep playing with that focus, because with that focus and ability, two goals could be enough.
