Stats: Shots Allowed Per Game

By Adam Rotter on November 21, 2009, 9:13AM

The Rangers are 12th in the NHL, as of last night, in per game shots allowed with 29.4.

Last season the Rangers finished the year, with John Tortorella as coach, with almost the same number of shots allowed, 29.7.

In 2007-08, with Tom Renney as coach, the Rangers allowed 25.9 shots per game, third best in the NHL.

….This is the breaks of Tortorella and we all knew it. They are still in the top half of the league and have a world class goalie, but nearly 30 shots a game is a lot to rely on Henrik Lundqvist for.

In other news, with the Rangers scoring and shot problems recently, Florida is tied for last in the league, as of last night, in shots allowed per game with 35.2.
