Last night Henrik Lundqvist was scheduled to start against Calgary. But earlier in the day, coach John Tortorella announced that Steve Valiquette would make his second straight start.
Lundqvist explained the reasoning, to Steve Zipay:
“It’s just a minor little thing that’s been bugging me,” he said, “so it’s a good time to get a break, we’re not playing until Thursday, so a couple days off here and be good to go.”

…I didn’t mind that Valley got the start. The more rest Lundqvist gets the better it helps them in the long run.
