Read: Avery Could Get More Ice Time Tonight

By Adam Rotter on November 07, 2009, 10:28AM

Sean Avery is averaging about 12:17 of ice time per game. Avery has played less then ten minutes per night the last two games and only above 13 minutes once in his last five games.

John Tortorella always gives more ice-time to the players who are playing better and right now Avery isn’t falling into that category.

In today’s New York Post though, Larry Brooks writes that Avery could see more time against a tougher Calgary team:

The Flames are a tough, physical team, so it is within the realm if possibility Avery will be called on more often tonight if Tortorella reaches the conclusion his team needs more of the singular element No. 16 brings to the ice. Avery will engage.

….If Avery does see more time tonight, he better watch out for Dion Phaneuf
