Buzz: Jagr On The Radar
Since he left for the KHL before last season, there have been countless rumors of an NHL return for Jaromir Jagr.
Jagr’s two year contract is up after this season and former Rangrs coach Tom Renney stays in contact with the Czech star and said that Jagr is on the Oilers radar:
“Jags and I text back and forth. I talked to him about six weeks ago,” Renney said. “He’s on our radar. He has NHL years ahead of him. No question.”
Read more from Renney in the New York Post.
….I still have the hardest time believing that Jagr would come back to the NHL and play in Edmonton. These rumors existed before Renney was even there so a connection must exist between the two parties. But its Edmonton. A great hockey city but it doesn’t exactly seem like a place Jagr would want to go.
I always figured that Jagr would end his career with the Rangers but if he does come back, all bets are off. I would love it if they brought Jagr back but that seems unlikely. I would assume that Pittsburgh and Sidney Crosby would be an option. A return to where he started and place where his number will be retired eventually.
Los Angeles could be an option, a west coast team on the rise. It will all come down to money and salary cap space though if Jagr comes back.
