As a Ranger, Jaromir Jagr broke the team single season goal and point records. Jagr transformed the team with his skill and carried the team into the playoffs for the first time in seven seasons.
When Jagr wasn’t brought back for last season, the team was left without a star skater and an even bigger hole in the scoring department.
This past summer, the Rangers tried to rectify this by signing Marian Gaborik to a five year deal worth $7.5 million.
After Gaborik made his Rangers debut on Monday night, Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist said this:
“You need to put more energy into keeping a track of a guy like (Gaborik),” goalie Henrik Lundqvist told NHL.com. “We had one of those guys here when we had (Jaromir) Jagr.”
…If Gaborik is half the player that Jagr was, the Rangers may have gotten a steal. Of course everything with Gaborik is health related, but if he is on the ice, he will give the Rangers the type of player that they sorely missed last season.

Dave Maloney said the other day that this team may have as many as (8) 20 goal scorers. That would be sweet and the Rangers would do alright if Gaborik is healthy and gets 40-50 which is what guys that get 7.5 mill better get. The story so far has got to be the defense. Gilroy and Del Zotto will be Rangers for a long time coming. As will Staal and Girardi. Sanguinetti isn’t far behind and should make the team outright. You have got to like that and of course we have Hank. The King will start loving this defense more than anyone as soon as Rozsival and Redden are not ever in front of him. I hear the Blue Jackets are looking for defense. Rozsival for Huselius straight up. Hell give em Redden and Rozsival and throw in about 3-5 million in cash for the favor of taking these slugs off our hands. They’ll deal Huselius and give Filatov his shot at rookie of the year. Sather you awake buddy boy???LETS GO RANGERS!!! LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!
