During practice on Monday, Sean Avery collided with Ryan Callahan and was diagnosed with a sprained knee.
Avery had an MRI and said that it came up “clean”
Andrew Gross quotes Avery as saying that his collision with Callahan was “flukey” and that Avery’s own prognosis is that he will be in the lineup when the Rangers open the season next Friday in Pittsburgh.

…Great news that Avery is off his crutches and that the MRI came up with nothing. Still, getting back in time for next week’s opener still might be in question. My guess would be that they hold him out but play him the next night for the home opener.
