Training Camp: Second Scrimmage

By Adam Rotter on 14. Sep, 2009

Andrew Gross reports from the MSG training center today about the Rangers afternoon scrimmage.

Marian Gaborik DID NOT suit up for the battle between team two and three.

Team two included:

Forwards: Sean Avery, Vinny Prospal, Brodie Dupont, Paul Crowder, Andres Ambuhl, Devin Didiomete

Defensemen: Wade Redden, Corey Potter, Ilkka Heikkinen, Brent Henley, Alexei Semenov and goalie Steve Valiquette.

Team three included:

Forwards: Evgeny Grachev, Brian Boyle, P.A. Parenteau, Donald Brashear, Tyler Arnason, Enver Lisin, Dan LaCouture, Corey Locke

Defensemen: Sam Klassen, Michal Rozsival, Nigel Williams and Tomas Kundratek and goalie Chad Johnson.

The teams played to a 1-1 tie.

Paul Crowded deflected in the goal for team two and Evgeny Grachev tied on a free shot. Essentially, Gross notes, the Rangers would give a soccer-type free kick instead of awarding a powerplay.

The story of this scrimmage seemed to be the physical play. Speaking of physical play, Gross writes that Donald Brashear looked solid and skated hard.
