Day 2: Rangers vs Thrashers Traverse City (Update) Final 4-1 Win
Update 8:55PM: The Rangers have sent out some quotes from Director of Player Personnel, Gordie Clark in regards to YESTERDAY’s loss against Carolina.
“He displayed high-end ability with his puck movement, vision of the ice and passing, particularly on the power play. He was very noticeable throughout the contest.”
On Scott Stajcer:
“Scott was excellent in this game, especially in the first half of the game. He made a number of outstanding saves and was able to keep the game close. He kept us in it, and gave us a chance to win.”
On Ryan Bourque:
“Bourque gave us a big offensive spark in the third period. He played hard throughout and created a number of scoring chances. His goal was the result of hard work, driving hard to the net.”
On Evgeny Grachev:
“He dominated the entire game and was dangerous whenever he touched the puck. In the second half, especially, he took his game to another level with his size and strength. He used his natural attributes to control the puck and the flow of the game.”
Update 5:20PM: The Rangers held onto their 4-1 lead and won the game by that score.
Here is a box score and a game sheet. Here is the Rangers recap.
Some stats:
- -Evgeny Grachev scored a goal and was a +4. He was on the ice for all Rangers goals. He also had five shots and took a penalty.
- -Michael Del Zotto was a -1 and had three shots on goal.
- -Chad Johnson stopped 28 of 29 shots to get the win.
- -Dale Weise had a goal and an assist, was as +3 and had three shots of his own.
- -Ryan Bourque had an assist on Grachev’s goal and had three shots.
…This was the kind of game that I hoped the Rangers prospects would play, and they did. Grachev seemed to dominate, at least from the box score and Dale Weiss, as prospect not many talk about, also seemed to play very well.

The goals were scored by Tomas Kundratek, Evgeny Grachev and Dale Weiss.
