Mailbag: Avery and Torts
Anthony G sent this question to me last night:
Anthony: How do you think Aves and Torts will get along this year. Do you think there will be any problems between the two ?
Adam Rotter: Very interesting question Anthony, and one that I haven’t even really thought about with all the rest going on with the team. With Sean Avery, as we all know, anything is possible and he could just “go off” at any moment and make some type of comment about an elephant or something and all the sudden, all the attention is back on #16. However, as we saw in the playoffs, John Tortorella will not take any of Aver’s antics. Avery has said in the past that he has “found his coach” in Torts and that he is excited to play for him.
For at least this season, unless there is a major incident, I see Avery being a good soldier for the Rangers and a huge pain for other teams. It is in the future that problems between the two could occur, but for this season I think Avery, and everyone else on the team, will fall under Torts is direction and push towards a playoff spot.
