(Update 8:30) From the Coyotes website. More confirmation.
Click “Read More” below to watch Enver Lisin highlights. At the 1:10 mark he scores against the Rangers.
So now that the deal is official, it seems like a good deal for the Rangers. Korpi showed skill but was a limited player. He can/will be a very good NHL player but in that Blair Betts way, with a little more scoring ability. Lisin seems like a scorer and it appears that with the move Glen Sather is making, he doesn’t want this team to have the problem it did last year. Lisin has talent and he seems to be progressing each year, this could be another situation where John Tortorella could make him a player. This, should mean the end of Nik Zherdev, but again, nothing is confirmed until he has gone somewhere else.
(Update 8:18) Maloney confirms the deal and says that the Rangers acquire Enver Lisin, a restricted free agent.
Lisin had 13 goals and eight assists last season for Phoenix in 48 games.
He is 6-1 190lbs and was drafted 50th overall in 2004. He was sandwiched around Rangers picks 48, Dane Byers and pick 51, Bruce Grahm. Ten picks ahead of Brandon Dubinsky.
Lisin, 23, is a native of Moscow.

Original Post: Buzz: Korpikoski Traded?

Its not good to make snap judgments on rumors, but James Mirtle reports, via twitter, that the Rangers may have traded Lauri Korpikoski to Phoenix.
If true, Phoenix is an obvious choice because GM Don Maloney, loved Korpikoski and pushed for the Rangers to draft him when he was the Rangers assistant GM.
Will report more if/when more comes available.
RANGERS TRADE LAURI KORPIKOSKI TO PHOENIX
Acquire Enver Lisin from Coyotes
New York, July 13, 2009 – New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has acquired forward Enver Lisin from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for forward Lauri Korpikoski.
Lisin, 23, skated in 48 games with Phoenix last season, registering 13 goals and eight assists for 21 points, along with 24 penalty minutes. He established career-highs in games played, goals, assists, points, penalty minutes, game-winning goals (two), and shots (105). Lisin tied for second on the team in even strength goals (12), tied for third in goals scored at home (eight), and tied for fifth in total goals. He posted four multi-point performances, including a career-high, three-point effort on March 30 against Dallas (two goals and one assist). In addition, Lisin recorded six points (two goals and four assists) in 10 games with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League (AHL) this past season.
The 6-2, 200 pounder has skated in 78 career regular season games in three seasons for the Phoenix Coyotes, registering 18 goals and 10 assists for 28 points, along with 46 penalty minutes. Lisin made his NHL debut on October 14, 2006 at Nashville, and recorded his first career point with an assist in his next game on October 17, 2006 at St. Louis.
Lisin has also appeared in 70 career AHL contests with San Antonio, collecting 20 goals and 23 assists for 43 points, along with 36 penalty minutes. In 2007-08, Lisin established AHL career-highs in games played (58), goals (16), assists (19), and points (26). He also posted a career-best, seven-game scoring streak from November 27 vs. Milwaukee to December 14 against Quad City, registering eight points (three goals and five assists) over the span.
In addition, Lisin skated in 116 career contests with Kazan Ak-Bars of the Russian Super League (RSL), recording 21 goals and 11 assists for 32 points, along with 48 penalty minutes.
The Moscow, Russia native was originally Phoenix’s second round choice, 50th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Korpikoski, 22, appeared in 68 games with the Rangers last season, collecting six goals and eight assists for 14 points, along with 14 penalty minutes.

Ironically the goal against the Rangers came with Korpi parked next to the crease. Nice quick release on those goals. Looks like a player.
I noticed that Korpi was there too. Funny the way it is. Agree with you, nice shot, seems like he could be a player.
Lets just hope we didnt trade one NHL’er leaving for the KHL for another. His cap hit and QO is going to be 1.03 mil a year. Not bad.
I love Korpo, and hate to give up on a former first rounder, but for him to make a mil this season just doesnt seem right for a player who will probably be a servicable third liner during his career.
Lisin is a potential 30 goal scorer within the next few years. Think that Korpo can net 30? Maybe, but definitley NOT within the next few years, and would need decent players around him IMO. Lisin looks to create his own by the looks of things.
He’s an RFA. Do you know if he was qualified and what kind of cap hit we take if and when we sign him?
I know with every deal like this, it looks like Z’s short career with us is, well, short, but I would still like him back on a team that won’t rely on him to be the man game in and out. Maybe that puts his play in a different light. I hope the front office figures that out too.
Hmmm looks pretty good, I did like Korps but I understand the move for more of a goal scorer
Perhaps Zherdev and Rozsival in a package now
I see this guy potentially as another Freddy Sjostrom.
Former 1st rounder, speedy, responsible defensively, good hands, was never able to put it together offensively.
But then again this guy just turned 23, so………
I assume the only reason you use Freddy is cause he is coming from PHX. obviously you have not read anything on Lisin considering absolutely everything on him talks about how his offense is fine and his defense is awful. speed is accurate as he was the fastest skater in his draft that had ovy and malkin in it. last season he had 13 G 8A in 48 games which means he can net 20G maybe 12-15A next season and he has a lot more upside than Korpo. He is more Nik Zherdev in that he has the talent but is a headcase than Freddy.
From hockeysfuture.com;
Talent Analysis
Lisin is a talented two-way forward with a huge offensive upside and a significant defensive upside. The young forward was more than likely the fastest forward eligible for the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He is fully capable of developing into a top line forward in the NHL. He’s an amazing skater, who’s a good finisher, has a great wrist shot, is very precise and has a deceivingly quick release.
I guess you know better?
and that analysis was written when he was drafted not since he has been in the NHL. defensive upside is not defensive skill. that’s like saying zherdev has 50 goal upside, sure but until you do it then it is all potential not reality.
when you are -36 in 78 nhl games to call someone defensively responsible is ridiculous.
True. Cause Phoenix always has stellar goaltending and D-men.
i really like this trade lisin has a lot of potential and at worst hes gonna score 20 goals a year our team is really starting to come together and we now have a lot of good young talented players…this is the start of something good for the Rangers…korpi was a nice player but this lisin has that aura to me of a guy who could become a star he just needs to spend the whole season with the rangers and this guy is going to produce if we can somehow add a first line center i think we are legitimate cup contenders if not already …i cant wait for the season to start !! our team is so different this year im excited to watch them all together and see what we can do
Blackhawks fire GM Tallon.
I like this trade too. Kudo’s to Slats for making this move although I would like to see how this unfolds during the season before Sather gets any more praise from me. However Lisin is just a hair older than Korpikoski and 13 goals in 48 games leads you to believe he can be a 20 goal scorer. His skating ability should fit very nicely with Tortorella’s system. But if he’s not going to come back on defense we will have our share of problems too. First Lisin will have to remember that the NY Ranger fans are the best in the league and most knowledgeable. If he doesn’t come back on defense the fans will see it in the first game or two and he will hear it from the crowd. Tortorella won’t stand for that and I think Lisin will come in here with a clean slate and do whatever is asked of him. Best of luck Lauri. Lastly this is a good trade to highlight the talents of the GM’s. Maloney should have never been let go by the Rangers. And if he knows something and winds up getting the better of this deal this trade will be just another reason to axe Sather
I just watched Lisin’s goal highlights on nhl.com to see what kind of goals they were. This guy Lisin can beat people and shoots hard to the net. I’m not making him out to be Gretzky but he definitely looks like he can be a finisher.
