Back from Vacation — It went by quick!
Okay — took a few days off to re-charge the batteries, but back to the grind tomorrow. I really zoned away from sports, intentionally, to take a breather.
My take on the events of the past few days-
The possible departure of Nikolai Zherdev - Adios Nikky! $4.5 a year? Cheers!
Joe Sakic – When I read he was going to retire, I was shocked. It seemed pretty certain he would return for one more season – especially with Matt Duchene on his way in. Duchene is compared to Sakic all the time. I was a huge fan of Sakic’s when the Rangers signed him to an offer sheet in 1997 and was very disappointed the Av’s matched the offer. All the best, Joe.
Chris Pronger’s extension – Seven years for a 35 year old big man. I’d be shocked if he finishes this contract. Also, see Derian Hatcher.
Alex Kovalev signing with Ottawa – I wonder if this means anything to the status of Dany Heatley? Either way, I am glad Kovalev is not a Ranger again (sorry Malusis — great job on SportsNite though, as always).
Micheal Jackson – Some ceremony, and I realized I like “Man in the Mirror’ a lot.
I am still pushing for the Rangers to get Saku Koivu to play with Marian Gaborik. I want nothing to do with Sergei Zubov, however.
