By Adam Rotter on 02. Jul, 2009

Panthers Rangers HockeyHockey Canada unveiled its list players invited to attend their camp to determine Canada’s team for the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver.

One of the 16 defenseman invited was the Rangers Marc Staal.

Staal has previously played for Team Canada at the World Juniors Championships in 2006 and 07, winning gold both times.

He was the only player invited from the Rangers.

Chris Drury and Ryan Callahan were invited to Team USA camp a few days ago.

This is awesome for Staal and it shows that he will most likely be a stalwart for future Team Canada teams.

I am as high on Staal as anyone but i dont expect him to make this team. I think he will in 4 years, but i assume that Niedermayer and Pronger will make it for the last time next year. JayBo and Phaneuf are mortal locks i would bet. Boyle could make it, but even if he doesnt i expect Mike Green, Shea Weber and Brent Seabrook ahead of Staal. Based on that i would look at him as about 8th on the list. he could make the team, but i doubt it this time.
