Spoke to fan today that relayed some information of a rumor spreading on the internet involving a Rangers/Leafs trade.
The rumor says Darren Dreger of TSN reports Glen Sather offering Wade Redden, Brandon Dubinksy and Marc Staal to the Maple Leafs for Tomas Kaberle, Anton Stralman and the 7th overall pick in the draft.
Ok — thanks to ‘bloggers’ around the internet, people actually think this for real. While anything is possible and the Rangers and Leafs could make a trade, Dreger never reported this and it is purely fabricated.
That aside, I do think the Leafs may trade their 7th overall pick in the draft — but not to the Rangers.
Continuing the trend of anniversaries — today is 15 years to the day that Stephane Matteau scored his epic G7 overtime goal against the Devils to advance the Rangers to the Stanley Cup Final.
Monzo: I am getting old.
According to the Denver Post, Patrick Roy has turned down the Av’s offer to be GM and Head Coach.

Last night the Pittsburgh Penguins finished off the Carolina Hurricanes in four
games to reach the Stanley Cup Finals for the second straight season.
Tonight the Detroit Red Wings have a chance to send the Chicago Blackhawks packing in five games to create a re-match of last seasons Stanley Cup Final.
The Wings defeated the Pens last year in five games to win the Stanley Cup.
Sam Rosen will co-host NHL Live! tomorrow with Rob Simpson, 12P-2P on the NHL Network and Sirius-XM.
There is a good chance Michael Del Zotto will be a guest on the program.
(Update: Michael Del Zotto will be on NHL Live! at 1:03P ET)
The New York Rangers have signed 2008 first round pick Michael Del Zotto
to an entry level contract.
Del Zotto had 13 goals and 50 assists in 60 games split between the Oshawa Generals and the London Knights.
Del Zotto was the 20th pick in last years draft.

The Washington Capitals may lose two players this summer to the KHL as
reports are that Sergei Fedorov and Viktor Koszlov may be close to signing with Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Salavat respectively.
Fedorov would join his brothers Evgeny and former Rangers legend Fedor Fedorov. Reports are that Fedorov will earn 3.8 million per season for two seasons.
Fedorov played 18 years in the NHL scoring 483 goals and garnering 1179 points in 1248 career games.
Kozlov has 198 goals and 339 assists in 897 career games.
In a post to From the Rink, James Mirtle passes along this tidbit
Rangers forward Nik Zherdev, a restricted free agent, has turned down an offer from KHL club Salavat Yulayev Ufa and wants to play in New York next season.
Rotter: This suprises yet intrigues me a little. I thought that Zherdev would sign with a KHL team and play in Russia but if he wants to come back and play in New York then something may have triggered in him to want to play better. He is only 24 years old but in his case of not scoring in the playoffs and being inconsistent for most of the season I thought he would go as far away from New York as he could. He knows he will have to play better and work harder with John Tortorella as coach and something about that must appeal to him. A better and hardworking Zherdev would be nice, but of course the salary cap dictates all now.
The Oilers have called a 2P ET press conference to likely announce their
Head Coach scenario.
Word is Pat Quinn will be Head Coach and former Ranger Head Coach Tom Renney will be his Assistant Coach.
More when it breaks….
(Update 1:20P – Darren Dreger of TSN all but confirmed this scenario on NHL Live!)
This begs the question – Will Jagr make his way to Edmonton?
