ESPN has a story on the Rangers signing Hobey Baker Trophy winner, defenseman Matt Gilroy.  Terms of his deal were not disclosed.

Update 4:30P ET – The Rangers have announced the deal for Gilroy.  Click here for the release.  It appears to be a multi-year deal.

Monzo: Gilroy now joins a solid group of young defenseman with Marc Staal and Dan Girardi to go along with prospects Bobby Sanguinetti, Michael Del Zotto and Corey Potter.  This will likely spell the end of either or both Paul Mara and Derek Morris come seasons end (both are UFA’s).  The Rangers may look to move Wade Redden (there is a better shot of me dating Evangeline Lilly) or Michal Roszival.
