A Game of Increasing Importance

By Patrick Hoffman on April 07, 2009, 11:00AM

New York Ranger fans all know how important tonight’s game with the Montreal Canadiens is. It’s been blabbed about all over the MSM and is obviously being talked about in many blogs.

There is no understating this one. The Habs are coming off a 3-2 loss at the hands of the Ottawa Senators last night and as such, should be the more tired team. As I mentioned in last night’s posting, the Habs will be without defensemen Andrei Markov and Mathieu Schneider, giving the Blueshirts even more of an opportunity to win tonight’s game.

If that wasn’t motivation enough, Greg Wyshynski mentioned in his Puck Daddy blog today that if the Habs win tonight, they will clinch a playoff spot.

As Larry Brooks mentioned in his article today in the New York Post, the Rangers control their own destiny and as such, it is up to them to make it happen.
