On the comment side, someone brought up a good point.  I stated a win yesterday should lock up a playoff spot, and was told to not lock up a playoff spot before it’s been earned.

To that commenter, I say this: You are right.

Was I looking ahead? A little, but not really.  But I do think this — the Rangers are a better team the Florida Panthers, and if the Panthers sneak in, leaving the Rangers on the outside looking in, serious changes need to happen.  Those changes?  We will discuss when that needs to be discussed (trust me, plenty of content on transactions and opinions once we hit the offseason).

But getting back to the title of the post: ”The Day That Never Comes,” not just a killer Metallica track, but a playoff spot is never a given until it is clinched.  And until the Rangers gets the 7th or 8th seed clinched, the team and its fans need to worry about sitting on the outside.
