Hoffman’s Take
I agree with Mr. Monzo that a playoff spot is never given until it is clinched and that for now, the Blueshirts are in that position. What’s unfortunate is that the team has three tough games coming up and while they are certainly better than the Panthers, the eighth spot is not guaranteed by any means.
As Monzo mentioned in his previous post, the team needs to make some serious changes. For one, they need to SCORE on the power play. This has killed them all season long and has not shown any signs of improvement under new head coach John Tortorella.
Secondly, Henrik Lundqvist needs to cut down on the soft goals allowed. He’s been tremendous for the team all season and has deserved every win that he has given them but there is no question that the goal he allowed yesterday should have been stopped.
Lastly, this team still has yet to establish consistency in their game. They’ll play great one game and then disappear the next. All the elite teams in this league have played well on a consistent basis and the Bruins are a perfect example of that. There is no better time to be consistent then by doing it now into the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Three games left to go folks. The next 180 minutes will decide whether this team deserves to be in the playoffs or not.
