Ever since the 1987-88 season, the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award has been given to the Ranger who goes above and
beyond the call of duty. In the 1990′s, Adam Graves won the award five times because of his all-out hustle, hard work and perseverance.
Next week, the team and its fans will find out who won the award for this season. To a lot of knowledgeable Blueshirt fans, it should be an easy choice when it comes to who should receive the award this season.
Ryan Callahan has done it all for the Rangers this season. He scores goals (21), hits, take hits, sacrifices his body to block shots, goes hard to the net, plays on both the power play and penalty kill, sticks up for his teammate and does all the little things that every hockey player should do. He may not be the biggest guy on the team but he might have the biggest hard on this year’s team.
Who do you folks think should win the award this season? Do you think that maybe guys like Blair Betts, Fredrik Sjostrom, Brandon Dubinsky (last year’s winner), or may be even someone like Paul Mara should get consideration?
