Buzz: Rangers Could Have Had Guerin
According to Larry Brooks in the Post, the Rangers could have had Bill Guerin from the Islanders at the trade deadline for the same thing the Penguins gave up for Guerin — a 5th round pick, which could have moved up to a 3rd rounder based on the playoffs. Sources tell Brooks that Guerin wanted to play with the Rangers.
Brooks says Sather wanted a little extra along with Guerin for the draft pick.
Monzo: For once, I actually believe Brooks here. I could see Guerin wanting to play with the Rangers with Scott Gomez — and could have filled the void left by Brendan Shanahan. Why Sather would ask for more than Guerin is something I am a little curious about — especially what he would have wanted.
