Puck Daddy, with help from Hockeyfights.com, has video of both of Markus Naslund‘s career fights.
Check out the shot that the announcer takes at legendary former Rangers coach Brian Trottier about grabbing people from behind.
Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke recently said in a conference calls that if he were to trade defenseman Tomas Kaberle at the trade deadline, the asking price at a minimum would be a 1st round pick, an NHL ready player and a top prospect.
The Fourth Period has the story.
Kaberle has a no-trade clause and would need to approve any deal before it goes through.
Monzo: Ok, so a 1st round pick, Ryan Callahan and Artem Anisimov/Bobby Sanguinetti for Tomas Kaberle? I think I will pass.

With a little less than a week before the trade deadline the Pens and Ducks made the first major deal, with the Pens sending defenseman Ryan Whitney to the Ducks for forwards Chris Kunitz and Eric Tangradi.
TSN has the story.
Whitney missed 31 games early in the season due to a foot injury — but will add another top defenseman to their core that already includes Chris Pronger and Scott Neidermayer — although both Pronger and Neidermayer have both been linked to trade rumors for a few weeks.
The Pens get a top line forward in Chris Kunitz, who will likely be the guy that gets paired with Sidney Crobsy.
(Update 1:25P ET) - Bob McKenzie blogs on TSN on why this deal will have little effect on the Chris Pronger situation in Anaheim.
NY Post: TIRED RESULT AS RANGERS FALL TO TORONTO IN TORTORELLA DEBUT
“I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but I’m a little concerned about the conditioning of the club – I thought we were tired in the third period,” the head coach said. “If we’re going to play an attack style, we need to be in shape.”
NY POST:FIRED RENNEY LEAVES WITH REGRETS
“I would have pushed harder for [GM] Glen [Sather] to give Jags more money so we could have kept him, and I should have pushed harder at Christmas time for Shanny,” Renney, dismissed on Monday just shy of five full years on the job, told The Post by phone, alluding to Jaromir Jagr and Brendan Shanahan.
Newsday: Renney: Rangers need power play QB, big forwards
“I can’t say I would do a whole lot different,” Renney said from his home in Westchester County. Perhaps his biggest regret was not sitting or benching players. “Maybe use the leverage a coach has with his players in playing time or playing at all,” he said.
Newsday: Rangers play hard for Tortorella, but lose again
“I’m not upset with the team,” said Tortorella, who senses that some players are not quite in shape to play his 60-minute attacking style. He took a timeout with seven minutes left in regulation. “I had to, the ‘D’ was exhausted,” he said. “I just saw us sink a little in the third. I thought we had some good offensive zone pressure, but we just can’t make that extra play to score a goal. I thought we were a tired hockey team in the third period.”
The Record: Rangers fall in Tortorella’s return
“I wouldn’t say it’s the whole team,” Tortorella said. “I have some concerns about a few guys. It was a struggle in the third period. It’s a tough way to play. I knew we were a tired hockey team in the third period.
NY Daily News: John Tortorella’s Rangers score 1 one goal, lose to Maple Leafs in shootout
But here’s what looked the same: Redden’s score was the Rangers’ only goal, they had few scoring chances at even strength and with a new up-tempo game plan, they faded badly in the late going.

The Maple Leafs defeated the Rangers 2-1 in a shootout in TO tonight.

- New coach, same result.
- While the team seemed to play more aggressively and had chances they still could not net any goals.
- Their only goal was scored on the PP and was scored by…. Wade Redden. Yes, Wade Redden actually scored. His first in 58 games — $6.5 million per season.
- Joe Micheletti says that Redden was shooting to score and not for a deflection. I would think every shot would be like that.
- Henrik Lundqvist was good tonight but the team needs more than him if they want to win.
- Seriously, Wade Redden scored.
- They are bad luck stricken — pucks skipping, guys fanning on shots — just a really bad funk they need to fight out of.
The Rangers next game is tomorrow night at MSG against the Panthers.
The Game:
The New York Rangers begin the John Tortorella Era tonight in Toronto against the Maple Leafs
The Goaltenders:
Henrik Lundqvist (26-19-6, 2.57 GAA) starts in net for the Rangers.
Vesa Toskala (20-17-10, 3.31 GAA) gets the start for the Leafs.
Monzo’s Keys to the Game:
-The first game after a coach gets fired usually leads to a win. The team needs wins regardless — get the two points and start the Tortorella era on a good note.
-I’m not sure what to expect from the PP — but one thing is for sure — they are going to be firing more pucks on net, which should lead to more goals.
-Look for a big game from Mr. Effort, Petr Prucha — he is a Tortorella-like player — gives his 110% and loves to score.
Notes:
The Rangers first game since firing head coach Tom Renney.
All-Time:
Overall: 212-270-95-3
At Toronto: 88-161-39-1
How To Catch It:
Tonight’s game can be seen on MSG Plus and can be heard on 970 AM.
Andrew Gross of the Record reports from Toronto on today’s practice.
The lines are the same as yesterday:
F – Markus Naslund-Scott Gomez-Nikolai Zherdev
Brandon Dubinsky-Chris Drury-Ryan Callahan
Nigel Dawes-Lauri Korpikoski-Petr Prucha
Fredrik Sjostrom-Blair Betts-Colton Orr
D- Marc Staal-Dan Girardi
Wade Redden-Michal Rozsival
Dmitri Kalinin-Erik Reitz
Gross writes of how Torts is all business:
He came into the interview room, stood behind the podium and before that uncomfortable pregnant pause could develop whilest we media types fumble to ask the first question, Tortorella said, “I’ve got a bus to catch.” He spoke for about nine minutes then pounded his hands on the podium and said it was time for him to catch that bus, or get to work, or something that indicated he was done talking.
Rotter: Reminds me of when I first saw/met Mets LF Daniel Murphy and noticed he was also all business, all Torts wants to do is coach and all Murph wants to do is hit. Gross also blogs about the PP and PK and how Tortorella will get them adjusted his way.
The Devils have activated goaltender Martin Brodeur from IR and sent Scott Clemmensen to their AHL affiiliate.
Clemmensen has gone 25-13-1 with two shutouts since Brodeur went down with a torn bicep muscle. While Kevin Weekes would seem like the logical choice to be sent down to the AHL, he would have to clear waivers in order to get sent down, where Clemmensen would not.
Tom Gulitti reports in his ‘Fire & Ice’ blog that Brodeur said he will play tomorrow night when the Devils welcome the Avalanche to Newark.
