Thoughts: Just Painful..

By Brian Monzo on 07. Dec, 2008

Not much to say here.  Just need to rant a little bit.  Just painful to watch tonight.  Want to be sick?  Scott Gomez is a minus-7 his last two games.  Not one person played a good game tonight.  So let’s see, they are now 18-10-2.  Sounds good right?  Let’s go to the old days, when shootouts didn’t exist.  Ties were still around.  11-11-10 would be their record.

Something is not right.

We all know what it is.  They are in need to a top notch goal scorer.  Unfortunately, there is not an answer in their system…

Should be fun watching Iyla Kovalchuk Wednesday.

The boys are in trouble no doubt. Ranger fans must come together. This is the time the team needs us the most. Oh there will be lots of fans calling Steve Somers saying how great things are when the team is winning, myself included. But when adversity hits and the team is down and playing poorly that’s when the true Ranger fan comes out and becomes the “extra man” on the ice. When the Rangers skated around aimlessly for 7 years missing the playoffs, I was still in section 403 losing my voice every painful night! It’s what makes the Ranger fan the greatest hockey fans in the NHL. Regardless of what the frogs may say in Montreal, or what the auto workers say in Detroit. Now more importantly the team needs to make some moves immediately. Sundin looks like he’s getting closer to Vancouver. Although I think Markus Naslund was a waste of a signing he could make himself useful by talking with Mats and convincing him to play at MSG to close out his hall of fame career a la Wayne Gretzky. That would be a good fix for this year and could be the link that brings us closer to the 3rd and 4th round of the playoffs. But if the Rangers want to add a great player for years to come Ilya Kovalchuk is THE MAN to sign. The guy has the most goals in hockey over the last 5 seasons, and is mired in a comatose season for the putrid Thrashers. The Thrashers are a gritty little team with very little talent. In fact Bryan Little may be all they have left after Kovalchuk goes elsewhere. Something tells me the Thrashers will be inclined to deal Kovalchuk during his season of sleepwalking and the Rangers should pounce like a lion going after it’s next meal. Rozsival, Prucha, Dawes, Voros, Fritsche, Sjostrom & Rissmiller, pack em up and it’s off to Atlanta they go. This deal has to get done. The Thrashers would go for it I’m telling you, and the Rangers need to pull the trigger. Sundin will be a good one year fix, Kovalchuk is good for the next 8 -10 years! Get on the stick Sather and start using some imagination would you please. The Rangers need to do something. I can’t bear another stretch of rotten hockey in section 403, but I’ll be there none the less, LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
