The Rangers announced Chris Drury would become the next captain of the team today via conference call from Prague. He will be the 25th captain in Rangers history. Markus Naslund and Scott Gomez will serve as the alternate captains. Drury said the team had a dinner when the annoucement was made. Drury served as co-captain with the Sabres from 2005-2007 with Daniel Briere. Drury defied leadership back in the 2006-2007 playoffs, playing for the Sabres and scoring a criticial goal with 7.7 seconds left in regulation to send game 5 into overtime….against, his current team, the New York Rangers.
